A romantic getaway in the Hunter Valley should feel effortless from the moment you arrive. voco Kirkton Park is a boutique manor estate, rich in character, on 70 private acres in Pokolbin, close to the cellar doors yet blissfully private. The pace softens as soon as you turn off Oakey Creek Road, breathing deepens and space opens up. Suites with valley views, sun-drenched balconies, estate-to-plate dining a short walk from your room and a heated indoor pool for any season: everything a couples getaway needs, in one place, around two hours from Sydney.
Room to slow down, together

For couples seeking a quiet escape, most rooms and suites have a balcony, verandah or terrace, so mornings start slowly with coffee outside and evenings linger over a glass of Hunter semillon. For the getaway that deserves more room, our four suites add space to spread out: a separate sitting area, a bigger balcony and views over the gardens or across the valley.
The Signature Suite is the one to book for a milestone, with a king bed, a lounge of its own and a claw foot bath set in front of the window. The Spa Suite is the only suite with a spa bath.

Mornings that start slowly, evenings that linger

Start with breakfast in The Conservatory, looking out over the rose garden. Swim in the heated indoor pool house, one of the only in the Hunter Valley, then warm up in the sauna or the spa bath, whatever the weather is doing outside. Walk the trails across the estate’s 70 acres, take a picnic hamper out onto the lawns, or book high tea for two, served Wednesday to Sunday.
As the afternoon softens, Epoche is the spot for a glass of local wine and a wood-fired pizza, by the fireplace in winter or out on the lounges in summer, and on a cold night the outdoor fire pit is the place for a nightcap. Then dinner for two at Locavore, our estate-to-plate restaurant, open seven nights. Nothing here is more than a short stroll from your room, which is how a weekend for two ends with you feeling restored, connected and genuinely at home.

Hunter Valley escapes, minutes from the gate

Pokolbin puts the region’s best-known cellar doors on your doorstep, close to the action yet wonderfully private, with Audrey Wilkinson, Tyrrell’s and Brokenwood all under ten minutes away and Peterson House, the valley’s home of sparkling, close by. Float over the vineyards at sunrise in a hot air balloon, wander Hunter Valley Gardens, or time your escape around a concert at one of the valley’s outdoor venues.
Book a driver or a tour for a cellar door afternoon, our reception team can suggest operators, then come home to the estate for dinner with no drive to think about.
Anniversaries, proposals and honeymoons

If your getaway is marking a date, tell us when you book. With a little notice our team can arrange a cake or cupcakes, a romantic arrival, or wine and cheese waiting in your room. Proposals in the rose garden, milestone anniversaries and honeymoon stays after a wedding on the estate are something of a specialty here.
If the celebration is bigger than the two of you, with family and friends coming too, our celebration stays page brings rooms, private dining and function spaces together in one place, and every space has its hire fee and capacity listed.
