George Viljoen, Senior Business Development Manager
Senior Business Development Manager, voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley. Looks after leadership retreats, conferences, weddings and group stays across the estate, from the first enquiry to the event itself.
George Viljoen has worked in events and hospitality since 2017. He spent almost six years as Events Coordinator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, running commercial and private events from the first site inspection to bump out: venue hire clients, catering and production, budgets and the contractors on the floor. He joined voco Kirkton Park in 2023 and has looked after business development on the estate since.
On a 70 acre manor estate with the Brokenback Range as the backdrop, that means everything from a leadership retreat in the Hunter and Rothbury Rooms and a conference dinner in the James Busby Room to a destination wedding in the gardens, or a family getaway with rooms close together in the Reg Drayton Wing. George works with organisers, planners and couples to match the space to the occasion, shape the menu with Portfolio Executive Chef Virender Singh and the kitchen team, and arrange rooms on the estate so guests can stay where they celebrate.
The articles under his name cover planning an event or a group stay in the Hunter Valley: choosing the right space, what to build into the programme and how to make the most of the region while you are here.
What I enjoy most about voco Kirkton Park is its ability to deliver completely different experiences on the same estate. One day we’re hosting a leadership retreat, the next a destination wedding or a family getaway. Every guest arrives with a different reason to visit, and it’s incredibly rewarding to help create those experiences while showcasing the very best of the Hunter Valley.
